Review: Uncle Peter's Man Double Duty Soldier Scrub
Posted on December 13 2014
I’m a fairly no-frills guy. I think no-name coffee tastes just as good as the fancy stuff. My dollar store earbuds sound just fine. I carry a flip-phone. But when it comes to cosmetics my inner diva comes out. I won’t cheap out or accept anything short of top tier. That’s why Uncle Peter’s Man Double Duty Soldier Scrub, sold at This Little Piggy, has become my new face wash — it pampers my face like nothing I’ve ever tried and does it by keeping things utterly simple.
Uncle Peter’s Man is a small Toronto company that makes their skincare products by hand, in small batches, and with natural ingredients. They don’t use fake colours or scents. They steer clear of parabens, phthalates, DEA compounds and propylene glycol, i.e., crap you don’t need to be putting on your skin. Just good and simple stuff here.
Solider Scrub sure ain’t pretty to look at (imagine day old gingerbread cookie dough) or pleasing to the touch (scooping some from the tub is like pinching damp sand), but it delivers where it counts. First there’s the scent: freshly peeled lime, sage, lemon, grapefruit, orange. Utterly refreshing. Even a bit tasty. Then comes the scrub, where you can feel the brown rice and raw cane sugar gently lifting the itchy old skin off your face and polishing you up good. Finally, rinse away the scrub and your face is left soft and moisturized courtesy of Soldier Scrub’s troop of natural oils - coconut, grapeseed, hempseed, jojoba and olive.Soldier Scrub is simply the best scrub I’ve tried. Uncle Peter’s Man can consider me recruited.
