Its cold season. Are you feeling it?
Posted on November 27 2013
It has been about 4 weeks since I felt half decent. Every time I get over my sniffles or sinus headache, another nasty little bug creeps into our house. Having a toddler and a baby makes for a pretty germ riddled house. So I have found a few things that are getting me through this:
1. Homemade soup, some of which have been beef barley, chicken noodle, vegetarian chili.
2. Tea, tea, and more tea. Davids tea has a couple flavous called "spiced fig", and "sleigh ride". I'm loving it.
3. Wiping all surfaces down after kids have used them, ie. high chairs, table, and lots of tissues on hand.
So how are you getting through this cold season? If any of you are in the same boat as me today, get a blanket, watch a movie, and feel better.
A family favourite soup- Butternut Squash Apple Soup
1 butternut Squash
1 stalk of celery
a handful of garlic
1 can of chicken stock, ad water to cover veggies.
a glob of olive oil to sautee veggies
salt and pepper and cinnamon to your preference.
Sautee all veggies in pan with olive oil, when slightly brown add chicken stock and water, and simmer. Once everything is soft get a blender, and blend. Add cream if you are looking to add some richness.
